New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has officially unveiled the schedule for the 2026–27 domestic summer. The men’s action will lead the charge on October 28 with the opening round of the Ford Trophy, followed by the women’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield starting on November 14. Men’s Ford Trophy: Season Opener and StructureContinuing the setup from the past two seasons, the ten-round men's one-day Ford Trophy will launch the domestic calendar. Defending champions Central Districts will take on Northern Districts at Nelson's Saxton Oval to begin the tournament on October 28.The opening round also features two high-profile matchups:Auckland vs. CanterburyWellington vs. OtagoThe competition maintains its traditional split structure. The first five rounds will take place across October and November before pausing to clear the schedule for the Plunket Shield and Super Smash. The Ford Trophy will resume in February to complete the final rounds before heading into the Finals Weekend. Women’s Hallyburton Johnstone ShieldThe women’s domestic one-day campaign kicks off on November 14. Defending champions Northern Districts will begin their Hallyburton Johnstone Shield title defence on the road, traveling to Palmerston North's Fitzherbert Park to clash with the Central Hinds. Nationwide Venues and Infrastructure ReturnsA total of 14 venues will host fixtures across the country, ensuring fans from multiple regions get to experience live elite domestic cricket. Highlights of the venue lineup include:Colin Maiden Park (Auckland): Makes its return to the domestic circuit after extensive redevelopment, hosting top-level domestic matches for the first time since 2023. Cello Basin Reserve (Wellington): Chosen once again to host the popular combined Finals Weekend format for both the men's and women's competitions. NZC Chief Cricket Operations Officer Catherine Campbell emphasized the community focus of the schedule:"No matter where you live in Aotearoa, there's a good chance a Ford Trophy or Hallyburton Johnstone Shield match is coming to a ground near you this summer. This year's schedule once again gives fans the chance to watch our best domestic talent up close at some fantastic regional venues. The combined Finals Weekend concept continues to be a success and it's exciting to be bringing it back to the Cello Basin Reserve this summer." Looking AheadThe rest of the summer domestic calendar will take shape shortly. NZC is scheduled to release the first-class Plunket Shield fixtures on September 2, followed by the Super Smash T20 draw in late September.
